Thanks Gary , ...I have two induction meters that I use , I usually test with both just to be sure as there is a small difference in measured values but they are very close to each other. The 'DD' coil I'm working on is for the TGSL build . Detection range is not all that good ( apparently these don't have a huge depth even when coils are correct induction so I'm trying for exact inductions to maximize performance .) The coils I have made work ok but I'm sure I can improve depth a little more . Sorry I cant post pics of them at the moment as I'm getting upload error message . I do think its my computer , its been misbehaving lately ....Windows 10 ....mmmmmmm.

frustrated with win 10. I cant upload any more pics as windows is messing with my laptop . Its really sickening the way MS has hijacked lots of peoples online lives including mine . The combination of a crappy ASUS laptop model F553M and an even crappier OS windows 10 has pretty much ruined my on and offline experience . I'm going to visit a tech and have the hard drive replaced and loaded with windows 7 . I'm going to burn the old hard drive at the stake after running it through with a screwdriver a couple of times , just to make me feel better ! Sorry for the rant but ive really had enough of this garbage. Windows even hides administrative tools from you so as to try to discourage any alterations .Its basically MALWARE .Now ive passed the cut off time to revert to a previous OS (8.1) which is almost as bad as win 10 .So new hard drive and win 7 it is .....sigh. Again ,I apologize for carrying on .....just so frustrated.!!!!

Hi , thanks Radioman , I'm have a problem uploading pics of the transformer and the other 50 watt circuit , it seems that the 50 watt kit is convertible to 100 watts ( its tiny compared to the unknown one...about a quarter or less the size . Hope I can sort this error problem ! Cheers , Dave.

Hello again , unfortunately one of the transistors is unreadable , two are clearly marked 2SK133 OD1 , 2SJ48 1B1 .One is only partially readable ...K133or8 1L?. All are Hitachi branded .Sill haven't gotten around to testing transformer outputs , more info forthcoming .Cheers , Dave.

Ok , I'm home . Sorry for the confusion. There are two numbers on the circuit board . 80sa10 and cat H8386 (not "K") . The number on the transformer mounting plate is MO152 , I'm not sure if this number has any relation to the actual transformer or not . Some blurry pics and test results to follow tomorrow . The name D--K SMITH ELECTRONICS is also printed on the board . A lot of these builds came with permission from Australian Electronics Magazine , when analog electronics was huge in this country......sad to see that its not that popular anymore .

Thanks Gary , I still might one day like to build that kit and also the dual frequency model just for kicks. Cheers , Dave.

Thanks Gary , for the clarification . I can still convert the board to pulse II though , cant I ? I should probably get another board from you . On the ground noise issue what I said about disc. I was talking in general terms , not the best way to get an idea across , I'll try to be more specific . And yes ,DD coils . When I finally get the process right to get accurate inductance I will make several sizes to test . Thanks for the input ,cheers Dave.

Thanks , Radioman . I get out as much as I can around here . Mineralization is monumental here and diminishes the depth of detection considerably on ANY type of detector .I have been experimenting with various types of shielding but nothing seems to get more depth . Admittedly I have been prospecting a reef so there are all kinds of rich deposits of minerals . The site near the reef has yielded many items , mostly iron and aluminium also a few coins . So I know the detector is working ok . You just have to accept the ground noise and try to "tune" around it. By the way I have other detectors , a Garrett AT Pro and an Ace . The ground drives both these machines nuts ....and me . I have found the Surf PI build to be better than both ! in dealing with ground noise . The Pulse 2 is much the same as the Surf in respect of noise but personally I prefer using it to all my detectors . Gary ... if you ever come up with a discriminating circuit that's not too complicated and can be incorporated into the P2 please let me be the first to know... hehe . I'm currently working on getting correct induction on a DD coil for the TGSL build . Not as easy as I thought , when the coils are restrained the induction increases too far even though I allow for the increase .( going through heaps of wire )Theres no going back after super glue is applied .So its trial and error for me .Even though coil inductance is off the machine still works ok . I just want the best build I can realize for my knowledge and skill level. I will start recording my finds ...as in what metal , depth found at , size, weight and mineralization levels .Thanks for your interest RM . Cheers ,Dave .

Yes it has an on /off switch on the end not shown , waste of time and power as you can't see these very well in daylight .Good to have some idea of battery level now and then.
