There is NO Capacitor, that can Change the joule output on these circuits. (Neither of these are Charged Cap Circuits.) The Output is basically the same as it would be in a Vehicle Ignition System. Increasing the Supply Voltage, Will increase the Output, up to a point, But it will also distroy the Ignition coil if you go too high. www3.telus.net/chemelec/Projects/Fencer/Fencer.htmThis is a Proper Electric Fence circuit as it Pulses on and off. (There Muscles Lock-up and they can't get off the wire, so they die.)

I built the basic PWM circuit for a fence charger and have pictures of a test using a High Energy GM coil - the constant spark is jumping 3/4" - 1" and heavy wattage. It is a very strong and well designed unit.

Good to know when people play (but this is not game) with high voltage to first know effect, before seek diagram with better voltage. 60 V is generally in many country in world "secure voltage" all over 60 V considered not secure for people. For people electric fence not need more than 100 V , people have skin more sensitive than cow. So insist to more than 10.000 V is very danger if currency enough to make effect. Stun gun have higher voltage than cattle electric stick. Electric stick is not to paralyze animal , no, they make to force animal to move. Electric fence is in middle. Even ignition coil from small motors give adequate energy to stop people and keep away many animals. (OK not to stop African Elephant)

Barbed Wire is Better for that. 2) It isn't Voltage that Kills.3) Its Current.4)100 volts is NOT Suitable for an Electric Fence as it Won't penitrate the FUR of Animals. 5) Ideally an Electric fence is High Voltage to Prenitrate, But relative LOW Current in Brief Pulses to give a shock. The Short Pulses give a Shock and the Time Between Pulses allow the animal to free himself, Before more shocks. Hope you understand this Better Now!

I know effect electric current, so just in any case, because people try found schematic diagram higher voltage. My opinion is this is wrong approach. Do not worry Gary for me I try (most accidentally, ;D on my skin) Effect electric current, some 500 V DC (many people think "what is 500 V" ?) , also I try big Tesla transformer. And know terminals on 500 V DC I wasn't move my hand few minute. It hurt really. But Tesla transformer give much more voltage and nothing happened me. This is was try point, than even small ignition coil(for small motors) can give not pleasant electric shock.
P.S. I never make electric fence, specially not for stop people, just try really point to any danger effect, I am think this is ok.
