Hola to all from Mexico! I have Garys PI2 kit, and recently found a source here for magnet wire, so am ready to start the assembly. I plan on a 1 meter square coil as my first attempt. Gary has given me some initial parameters on uH, wire size, turns. Since I would like to stick to the flat, or ribbon type winding method where each winding is on a flat plane and parallel to all the others, was wondering about spacing considerations. I.E., should I just wind each wrap right next to the previous wrap, or should I build in some sort of gap, like a gap of one wire width, or other? It should not be too hard to do, as I can simply put a 'spacer' at each corner when I lay down the wraps, so the width of the 'gap' can be most anything. If a gap is advised, I assume an air gap would be best, but if it isn't, what insulation method would be recommended? Comments, ideas? Thanks, Slick in San Carlos

Adding a Gap between wires on such a large coil Won't make any difference. Nor will it matter if its Flat Wound or Scramble Wound.

Thanks Gary,
That certainly gives me some more options!
Wasn't sure if capacitance was an issue or not, so will press ahead and see what I can do with this kit!
