Hi, I have a couple rather simple questions about the Knight Rider circuit that most people in electronics probally know.
1. There is a component called 555. When looking for this I came across a LM555CN timer. Is this the correct part?
2. Is the 1 MFD TANT capacitor off of the 3 pin on the LM3914 IC a 1 mircofarad tantalum capacitor? I am not sure what the TANT means.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Can you suggest any good online stores that sell components?
Thanks, Jason

Mfd is the Old Term for uF or Microfarad.
So its a 1 uf Cap.
Tant is short for Tantalum. Or you could use a .1 Mylar Capacitor. This Cap is Not very Critical.
Yes that 555 is OK.
Additionally you can make this using only One LM3914 and connect Two LED's in Series for Each LED Shown. One of these two would go on the Left Side, The Other Led would go on the Right Side.
For these Parts, I might be Cheaper as I just charge my Cost, Plus Postage. No Handling fees or Minimums.
Take care..........Gary
