I' m trying to put turn signals ,Em flashers and Flashing brake lights on a model T. I want to use Leds for the lights. the car has a 6 volt battery and generator. The generator can deliver greater than 8 volts so I was thinking of some kind of voltage control to protect the electronics? Zener diode? I have a couple of 556 timer chips . Any suggestions on possible circuits? Thanks Mike

You could use a Movistor and a Fuse, if you think it really needs protection. Yes a 556 or some 555's can make a flasher circuit.. Both have a rating of about 18 volts. The 555 or 556 would typically drive a Mosfet to supply power to the LED's. Somewhere I have a circuit that is suitable for this, But I need to find it.
