Is there a way to expand that security alarm circuit so that if it is triggered, your cell phone would get a text message or picture?

Yes it is Possible.
You would need a Programmed chip with your Cell number in it and a Dialer chip.
But I am Not into Digital designs so you have the wrong person for that additional circuitry.

But a Search on the net should find a suitable Dialer circuit.
