The preservation of Gary`s website and all the knowledge it holds is very important to all of us here. I have to add that it would not be possible without all the help I have received from Jean! She is a great person to talk with and has gone far out of her way to help me keep this site up and running!
Well,... Here is the answer to backing up this site.
ProBoards specifically creates backups of forums hosted by them, for emergency related purposes, where a backup must be used in cases where something happens, and a backup is the only way to recover the forum. Per the terms of service, users allow for their content to be used by ProBoards to be posted on ProBoards forums. Period. Any attempt to harvest the content is a violation of the terms of service as well as a violation of the rights of those who posted on your forum. Bottom line is that you do not own the content on the forum and therefore are not entitled to it.

Using a program to scrape data off of a forum is not allowed per the TOS. (TOS is an acronym for Terms of Service) We have provided a way for you to download and retain your own data from the forum, the data of other users does not belong to you. You are only permitted to backup your own posts on the forum, as each user owns the material they have posted. You can download your posts from Account Settings and clicking on Export Member Data. End quote.
what a crap! they have forgotten old network rule "information must be free" ! anyway , if that poses a problem to you, here in Russia noone cares about "proboards" "rules" (crap) , i can grab a backup and post in on my personal blog.
I think this refers to the forum and I can imagine there are other rules for a forum.
of course, it's about the forum only, but anyway i think "proboards" has gone nuts. literally , they say, that user's posts do not belong to users! what a crap! in Russia, i would tell them " идите нахуй! "

ProBoards has rules that we all agree to when we sign up to one of there forums. Users posts do belong to the one user that posted them. You can download Your posts anytime. I don`t make the rules but I do believe they are there for a reason.
