Gary I have a magnetic float switch that I'm using in a recirculation (electrolyte) container. Here is how I have it setup. My hydrogen booster that I have on my truck starts out full of electrolyte, but as it runs it spits electrolyte out thru the gas tubing to the bubbler. Filling the bubbler with electrolyte. So I converted the bubbler by adding a magnetic float switch inside, that turns on a windshield washer pump, that pumps the electrolyte back to the electrolyzer. Problem I'm having is.... When the electrolyte rises high enough to make the float switch contact, The float switch turns on the pump, then shuts off then on ,off, on, off, on,... I need the pump to stay on a few seconds longer to pump the electrolyte below the float switches contact point. The float switch is wired thru a automotive accessory relay What is clicking on and off like mad. I just need a way to delay the pump a few seconds to draw the electrolyte (float switch) down off the contact point a little more. Am I making any sense at all? If I understand you correctly, I would suggest your Contact Switch be used to trigger a 555 Monostable circuit (Timer) to turn on the pump for a Preset amount of time. Or Even better, Make a New Cell and leave a Much bigger AIR SPACE above the plates. Than No Pump should be required.

Yes The 555 Monostable Circuit is what I'm looking for. Pre set timing needs to be variable from say 5 to 12 seconds, then shut off the relay until fired again. (Float Switch).Problem Is , I need a simple newbie curcuit drawn with the connections drawn orientated to the chip as if its an overlay. I've tried building one and it worked sorta, float switch would trigger relay but would not shut off. Disconnecting power would reset the circuit.

Need MORE INFO: Tried to phone, but no answer. 1) How much Current does your pump Draw? 2) Does your float sensor Close circuit or Open Circuit to trigger the 555?

The pump draws .824 amp at 14.4 V. The float switch is closed to trigger the 555 (Or it is like a switch on position. current passes thru the float switch as the float drops the circuit is broken or in the off position.
