slymn03, I don't know what to tell you. Did you use the exact components listed in the schematic?

yes exactly the same. I guess the pinpointer will not work. Thank you very much for your help.

slymn03,.. I still have never built one but I know that it works by the Posts on here and the internet. You got some little thing wrong. I have no idea what. Low Resistance, 10 Turn Pot to adjust it? This adjustment is Quite Critical I read! Copy / Paste From Gary Using the two Controls, You should be able to tune it, So it Just Barely Stops Oscillating. At that point, the LED should light. Now if you re-adjust the fine tune control, so Oscillator Comes back on and the LED just goes off. It Should NOW Detect Metal. If Not, you may have a problem in the circuit. If it Won't Oscillate, Make sure you have a Correct Polarity on the Coils. You may also Increase the value of the 5K Pot to 10K or 25K if the coil is too far out of range to oscillate. The Exact Frequency isn't Important, But the Higher it is the Greater the Sensitivity to TINY Objects. Most of mine are oscillating in the 250 Khz to 350 Khz. Wow,.. Lots of info Just on this Site! A search for Pin Pointer... chemelec.proboards.com/search/results?captcha_id=captcha_search&display_as=0&search=Search&what_at_least_one=Pin%2BPointer&who_only_made_by=0

If you want to upload some clear pictures of your project maybe we can spot something.

I, Made it work , so it's working just like Gary shows in the pictures. You have to be aware of some things like the coil lets say if you look at the shematics legend you will see that the polaraties in the coil is oposite, and you have to remove 2k2 resistor witch is just before the potenciometter /if you use bigger coil it wont oscilate if you dont. The first transistor 3904 is all the time open and work as an aplifire and by turning the pot you are adjusting the curent that goes to the 5088 witch is a switch that grounds the 555 timer and make it stop beeping. It took me a while to find out hou its working so I can make it work if you play with it for a while it will do.You can use a diode with 100 k resistor to see if you have make a good cirquit 3904 it have to be open all the time and if you disconect its colector leg /with a coil wired/ the beeper have to stop wich means that 5088 is wired correctly. At first I tried to make it with the pcb but after I have use the shematic and I think is better if you try to understand how it works.I m an absolute beginer in electronics it's actualy my first try and I'm so happy that I made it wirk. Sorry for my bad english by the way. If someone have the shematics for Garys Pulse metal detector 1 or 2 I will be happy to try to make it as my second project.

baven
Pulse 1 and 2 were sold by Gary once as a kit. Any information found on the Chemelec site about them is just for historical purposes.
