I want to make a decent one just for prideful reasons, i don’t see me ever having to use it around here. Plus i like how the better ones sound.
I REALLY wish I knew Russian. Not just in regards to stun guns, but other electronics too. You guys have really upped the game.

I would just recommend using a Ferrite Rod. 1/4 or 3/8 inch Diameter, Possibly 1.25 to 1.5 inches long. They allow for Better HV Insulation.
Pot Cores and that RM6 Core, can easily result in Arcing inside the assembly.
You also need to make sure your Probe's Arc Distance is Shorter than any Arc Distance of this Coil.

yeah maybe i'll think of adding that to my collection. i had no deals with ebay, since PayPal had set it's ass to russian FSB, demanding all users enter their passport data to make payments. i accept that as personal offence, paypal is dead to me after that.

It's been a while since last activity in this thread, but recently i caught myself thinking about future of electrical non-lethal weapons around the world... it seems that stun-gun technology is fully disclosed: optimum electrical specs, which lead to guaranteed incapacitation, are known, charge delivery means (shooting probes,,, etc.) are well-tested and proven to be effective... But what place stun guns occupy in average citizen's life? Do you carry stun guns (or "tasers" in the meaning of remote stun gun) ? do you rely on it ? How many times have you been forced to use it? Please contribute to this question. Personally, i have tested all commercial stun guns (including American Taser's) on myself. I have built many handmade units, which exceeds commercial stun guns's specs, and also tested them on myself. I have intentionally created situations, to test it on another subject's (typically drunk ones), where it was not dangerous to me (in fact , i was an attacker.) But i have NEVER used stun guns to for real self-defense, and even more, have never relied on it. Curiously, isn't it? Maybe i'm the last person from which you may hear that, but that's true. How about you?

Hello Lamazoid, I'm still interested in the subject! I built myself some tasers, one for me and one for a friend, who owns a boat and during his yearly trip trough France, he wants to feel a bit more safe by having a taser. I never used it so far, but I want to use it to scare off people who could "visit" my house. These tasers make pretty sparks of 20 mm with a lot of noise.

So does a .44 Magnum and it to scares unwanted people when it makes those sparks! Pesky black Bears to.

I can't understand why people in free countries like USA still use stun guns, when they can carry firearms. In Russia, everything that could harm an attacker is banned. Criminals are the source and the stand of Russian authorities. That's why people are interested in powerful (homemade) stun guns or pepper sprays.

Here in The Netherlands also stun guns and pepperspray are illegal! Of course fire arms too!
