I wasn't trying to keep the circuit a secret, just trying to be brief. The circuit is a product of Velleman, their traffic light kit. The scheme can be found at this URL, www.vellemanusa.com/downloads/0/manual_mk131.pdfI want to use the basic timing cycle of this circuit, but I want to feed it to some larger lamps. Thus, the transistor switching scheme. I originally thought of a full size traffic light, which could be handled by a simple relays, but my wife didn't think it would look good in the living room. So it is now planned for the doorway to my workshop. Amazing how much peace was restored when I conceded where to put it, which did turn out to be a different place than where she told me to put it. Sorry, I Can't do a Drawing for you, But its Quite Simple. The Existing Resistor (now to LED) Instead Goes to Base of a Transistor or Gate of a Mosfet. (What Transistor/Mosfet, Depends on the Current you require) Emitter (Source) goes to Ground. Your Light Bulb Goes between the Collector (or Drain) and Positive Supply. Should work OK, Gary.

Ok, Thanks Gary. I didn't know if maybe some other associated components would be required. Back to the breadboard. Possibly a resistor or two, But I haven't seen your circuit to advise you better.

I have a circuit that flashes some LED's in sequence, what I want to do is increase the amount of light by using some incandescent lamps instead of the LED's. So I need some sort of transistor switching that will handle about 12 volts at 400- 500 ma of current, but be driven by the typical 1-2 volt, 20 ma LED output that the flasher is outputting. Any ideas?? Just a Transistor should do it.

Someone pls enlighten: Bluish arc= Normal. Right? Yellowish arc= High powered and dangerous. Right? I happen to produce 'Redish' sparks.... How? The Spark Color Might also relate to: What Metal your Probes are?

A radical idea occured to me; What happens IF I were to take apart one of those 'Electric Fly Swater' things, and integrate a T-2 into it? ;D Modifing one, won't do much of Anything. Those Fly Swaters use Very Low Current. Not enough power to drive T2 for a good output.

That 8 Amps is Probably Current Draw from the Battery. Definately NOT on the output. As He Said, He doesn't understand Schematics. 1 & 2 Are Crap. 3 is a Stun Gun, but No real construction details are given. However the schematic is simular to the ones on my site.

If that is the case, On a 56K Modem, It would take Forever to download 70 Mb.
Last Night I Remembered Who I talked with on the phone and I called him. He says he will Snail Mail me this Other Software. Can't remember what the System was But it Included Firefox.
Keep your Fingers Crossed.

After Numerous attempts to get the computer going, I give up.
Unfortunately a New computer would need to be a Dual Boot system, with win98 and ? (XP Maybe) as I Must have Dos available. It would Probably cost around $1000.00
I Very Much Enjoy What I do, But the Problem is I am Tooo CHEAP to spend that amount of money, to just keep a Non-Profit website going.
Talking to a person on the phone, they said there was another system that was being offered for free, and they said they would mail it to me. But I can't remember Who and it hasn't arrived yet. "Maybe it will show up and save the day".

Yah, Fair-rite does have the pot-cores and such, but it seems that they dont do individual sales... Gotta make a bulk order of hundereds and above here... Other than that, i could get most of the components needed.... Lol... I'd really appreciate if anyone would mail me a assembled circut, less T-2... For reference sake... ;D Yes Most Ferrite Manufacturers require large orders. But that is why I stock them, so I can supply Small quantities to hobbiests. Gary

Update: Reinstalled Windows. Now I can get onto the Internet, But CAN'T Access Hotmail. It says there is an Error. MORE CRAP. Think I'm going to QUIT all this! SORRY.

Gary. Sorry to hear about your windows ( crap) problem. Are you installing ei6 off a old cd or off their web site? Have you tried firefox instead of ei6 ? Did you go to windows for any updates? ( bad Idea maybe) Did you format your hard drive as fat 16 or 32? What worked before? Do you have a boot floppy that can format your new hard drive with their own version of format? Have you tried it? (long shot , leave for last) Have you run msconfig and shut down any crap that could be running in back ground? I have not used win98 in such a long time. Let me know how it is going...Keith Since I Can't get on the Internet, I Can't Install from the Internet. Besides, I'm on Slow Dial up Internet. And I'm sure my Explorer CD is OK. No Crap running in background. I have Formatted many hard drives and I have Proper Win98 Install disks. None of that should be a Problem. Gary

Hi All, My Hard Drive Crashed. Presently using my girlfriends computer!
Here is What I have Done:
I installed a New harddrive Installed win98 as I NEED This operating system. DON'T ASK WHY, I just do.
I updated my Explorer to version 6. (That is what I had Previously and it worked perfectly) (Explorer 7 Won't work with Win98)
Finally I got on the Internet, But All pages are a MILE LONG. The Curser on the right side must go 10,000 pages down. Doesn't matter What website I go to.
In Hotmail, I can't click on anything. As soon as I try, it Disappears from the screen.
MORE INFO: Firing up my computer, My Menu Page is OK I Installed FTP Explorer that allows me to upload to my website, It is also OK.
So it Seems as its related to "Internet Explorer 6". But I previously installed this before from the SAME CD on the Previous Harddrive and No Problem.
ANY HELP or Guess's APPRECIATED.
IF I Can't get Up and running SOON, I will be forced to Shut down This Fourm and also my Website.
Gary

Hey lamazoid, Visited your site, fantasic! Just a question though, other than the 22mm pot core, is there any other suitable transformer you'd suggest? I can't seem to find any of those in my country... By the way guys, I happen to chance upon some 'ready made' split bobbins. Vacum potted and all. Just a slight problem, there's 06 leads. Will be up loading the photos soon, you'll get what I mean. One last question, how do you actually 'trace' the PCB? I keep making a mess of it... RE: Bobbins and Vacuum Potted? How do you know if they are at all Suitable for impedance and Turns ratio? Tracing PCB's: CAREFULLY. I Have 2 sizes of Pot cores Available, Plus Matching PC Mount Bobbins, If Needed. Both are made by "FairRite" and both are material "77" and Suitable for this project. You need to Email me for Pricing and Say: "Where you live", to determine shipping cost. Take care......Gary

My understanding is it only discriminates between Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals. And the Results are not all that good.
So I am Told.

Your circuit works very well. But IC555 is quite warm and 150 ohm is too hot. How can I fix this problem? You Must have done Something Wrong. It should Not get hot. Gary
