Greetings from a new member, hello everyone . Just built a cheap oscilloscope from a kit , powered on and the screen lights up but there is no signal displayed .The program didn't boot or I cant see it on the screen . One of the pins on the screen connection was way out of alignment ...had to bend it sideways so it would fit (could this be the fault I wonder) . If anyone has any suggestions , they would be well received .Cheers Dave.

Cheep kit found on ebay is DSO138. Around $18.00 in kit or $29.00 assembled. Am I close?

sounds like it could be a lot of different things. there is a high chance the bent pin is not the problem

And if that were an issue, it would be BAD Feedback for others to see.

Try to contact the seller. This may be a common problem.

thanks guys, the pics of this kit are not the best but the only thing that stands out is the pin which could be shorting with the adjacent pin (it seems melted into its base quite near the next pin ) .manufacturing fault ? I will change out the assembly and see what happens . another thing is that the program may not have been loaded. I'm not too bothered by this not working it was just for fun anyway, these kits are not guaranteed to work when powered on. i did however check the values of all the components except ic's before assembly.so it's probably something I have done wrong.!

dave, If you are referring to the DSO130 oscilloscope kit, I have built this kit and it works fine so far notwithstanding its limitations. Initially, I had a similar problem as yours and found that one of the solder joints on the multi-pin connector to the screen was bad even though it looked good. Perhaps reapplying your soldering iron to all the joints might solve the problem. The manufacturer of the DSO138 maintains a website and troubleshooting blog at www.jyetech.com/Products/LcdScope/e138.phpNote that JYE reports that it there are counterfeit DSO138 kits being marketed - hopefully you did not acquire one of those.
